Empowering Youth and Women Farmers

Building sustainable livelihoods in rural Tanzania

Youth and Women Farmers

One of our core missions is to empower youth and women banana farmers, many of whom are single mothers, by providing them with reliable market access and fair compensation for their produce. This empowerment initiative has transformed the lives of farmers in the Rungwe and Busokelo districts of Mbeya, Tanzania.

Our Empowerment Programs:

  • Fair Purchasing Practices: We ensure farmers receive fair prices for their bananas, creating sustainable income sources for over 500 farming families.
  • Agricultural Training: We provide comprehensive training on sustainable farming techniques to improve productivity and quality, reaching 300+ farmers annually.
  • Financial Literacy: We conduct workshops on financial management to help farmers make informed decisions about their earnings and investments.
  • Market Access: We create reliable market channels for farmers to sell their produce, eliminating middleman exploitation.
  • Community Support: We invest in community development projects that benefit farmers and their families, including education and healthcare initiatives.

Environmental Sustainability

Protecting our planet for future generations

We are committed to environmentally sustainable practices throughout our operations. By processing surplus bananas that would otherwise go to waste, we help reduce food waste and its environmental consequences. Additionally, we implement eco-friendly measures in our production processes to minimize our carbon footprint.

Our Sustainability Initiatives:

  • Waste Reduction: Converting surplus bananas into value-added products reduces agricultural waste by over 2,500 kg daily.
  • Resource Efficiency: Optimizing energy and water usage in our processing facilities, achieving 40% reduction in consumption.
  • Sustainable Packaging: Working towards more environmentally friendly packaging solutions using biodegradable materials.
  • Promoting Sustainable Agriculture: Encouraging farming practices that preserve soil health and biodiversity across our partner network.
  • Carbon Footprint Reduction: Implementing measures to minimize greenhouse gas emissions throughout our value chain.
